Nightmares

Our children bicker like all siblings do. It's always neat to see them work out their arguments, cheer each other on, or give 'love' to one another undirected. Last night Sophia Rose had a bad dream. She came in our room around 4:00 in the morning and was crying. She said, "Is Pearl still here?" After assuring her Pearl was still sleeping soundly in her bed, she began telling us all about her dream. She told us a stranger took Pearl away when they were at a fair and SR tried going after her but when she did, another stranger took her away so she couldn't get to Pearl in time. Then she said, "I'm so glad I didn't have to worry about Ava and Annabelle, too."

I guess the irony is that SR is not typically an overprotective sister. She's the oldest and is very independent. She enjoys playing with the girls but she also cherishes her alone time. Though I wish SR didn't have a bad dream, sometimes it's nice to get a glimpse at how much they mean to each other.

When SR woke up this morning, she went right over to Pearl and started hugging and loving on her. Sometimes it takes a nightmare or a difficult experience to remind us to show others how much we love them.
